Peter took a few days off work after Memorial Day to spend with us. Sort of a mini vacation that we all needed. We had such a good time! I took Saturday and went shopping for a few hours ALONE. I had been putting off getting some things I needed for too long so it was kind of a big trip. Thanks to Payless and their BOGO, and some good finds at Target and Walmart I came home with 4 pairs of shoes, 3 outfits to work-out it (go yoga!), some lightweight capris, 2 new shirts, and 2 hats (at Peter's request so I would stop taking his, lol). Monday we spent the morning playing around the house and making treats before we headed to my parents for a day of swimming. We all got a tad too much sun and are still rubbing aloe vera on our shoulders. It was so much fun though!
Tuesday Peter and I had plans for a date. We didn't have time to do both a movie and a meal so we chose the meal and then a trip to the store. So we slowly drove through the driving rain to The Saltgrass Steakhouse for lunch. It was almost completely empty and so quiet! I could have stayed there all day. The food was scrumptious and totally bad for me. We took our time too. After that we headed on over to a new Target that is closer to my mom's house where the children were. We decided that after selling our trampoline we'd get something fun to do in the backyard. So we picked up a croquet/Bocce set and went to pick up the kids. They had a grand time at Grandma's house and we all went home and played Dance Dance Revolution since it was too wet to play with our new outdoor games.
Wednesday we headed out to the zoo! We wanted to go one more time before the public schools got out for the summer. It was so nice to walk around and have the place almost to ourselves. The animals gave a great show too! The penguins preened and stretched and shook their tails at us right in front of the glass. A female Mandrill took to the kids and sat right in front of the window for them too. She would put her hands on the glass and just look at us. She swiped at us a couple of times too, lol. The Gorilla was also sitting right in front of the window and at one time, picked up a branch, dropped it, and proceeded to pound on his chest and do a huge gorilla yell/roar thing. I turned on the video camera too late and just got him picking his nose and eating whatever it was he dug out, lol. We took a ride on the monorail and saw the parts of the park that you will otherwise not see. We decided to leave at lunchtime and come back Saturday morning (and face the crowd) to see the animals that we missed. I love having a pass because we don't feel like we have to stay the whole day to get our money's worth! That afternoon our new game set got some playtime as well.
Peter went back to work this morning and we are all missing him. Love you Baby! It's almost the weekend!

Wow, what a nice treat. I love spending days together as a family!! I also LOVE Saltgrass. I haven't gone there for like 10 years. Maybe I'll have to go when I'm in Texas. I always make a super long list of places I want to go whenever I go down to visit. Your daughter is so beautiful!
