(I did not take this picture and I no longer bother with disposable muffin cups. They are a huge pain and if you just spray the baking spray with flour on the tins the muffins or cupcakes come out just perfectly.)
Once in a great while we will still buy cereal but it's a rarity now where it used to be our daily breakfast fare. The kids were just always so hungry all morning long and I wanted to give them something that would stick to them. It was tough at first because I have a very picky eater and I wanted them all to enjoy breakfast. So we started with eggs because they all love those. They will mix in a little salsa with their eggs now too. Pancakes or waffles were okay but still not as filling if we didn't have some protein along with them. If we aren't having something with a meat or eggs I will usually make a fruit and yogurt smoothie to keep them filled up for a while. I found a site that I just love. Mr Breakfast. There are a myriad of recipes there. I have tried a few but have a long way to go! I love the Perfect Blueberry Muffin recipe (I don't use the optional ingredients though) and a couple of the scone recipes were good too. So, tell me what you have during the week for breakfast to help me keep things interesting! Our "usuals" are donut muffins (good and so easy!), blueberry muffins, cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, pancakes, waffles, chocolate chip muffins, blueberry scone, and granola. Add to my list please!

Dutch Babies! We *love* dutch babies. We like them salty but you can also put powdered sugar or jam or berries or chocolate or . . . on them. [Grin]. You get the idea. :) Some people call them German Pancakes. Here is a recipe with picture. Enjoy!
We love muffins and sweet breads, so I would add:
brown sugar muffins
poppyseed poundcake muffins
zucchini bread
banana bread
Will you share your blueberry scone recipe? That sounds yummy.
Well, since I've started eating alog more protein and less carbs, I have discovered the yumminess of salsa in eggs too, BUT I add either chopped up lite spam, or ham, along with shredded cheddar cheese. I love it with just a half slice of whole wheat toast.
Chris has to eat his fiber twigs in the morning ( docs orders), so he doesn't get very creative so early in the morning.
Have you tried making them breakfast burritos? if they already like salsa, then add a corn or flour tortilla to it.
I'm with Andrea on the Zucchini bread ! YUM
You already all have my ideas so I'm open for suggestions too! I started making those Dutch babies a couple weeks ago too--the kids love them. We call it pancake souffle!
Oh yay! I'm so glad! :) Those are DELICIOUS!! I think I'm having a craving . . . :P
I have the same issues. Love the post. Our favorite is a whole grain pancake with fruit and syrup on top. It gives so much more lasting energy being whole grain and they love it because of the sweet syrup. I am a BIG believer in whole wheat, oat flour or what ever whole grain. It's the same reason why everyone loves oatmeal cookies. Because their bodies feel better eating them.
I learned recently 1 in every 3 people are somewhat allergic to the gluetin in white flour and don't know it. I think it's because our body has too much without the important part of the grain. I feel sick when I eat too much junk food.
We have an oat pancake mix my MIL made up. Its pancakes with oatmeal in them. They are really good. I will get you the recipe. We also do breakfast burritos (which you can make and wrap in foil and freeze (for OAMC) and then reheat in the oven when needed. Those have hashbrowns eggs cheese and bacon or sausage in them (and if you like salsa). My kids love belgian waffles with fruit and or syrup so we make a bunch on the weekend and freeze them for during the week. My kids also love cheese sticks with toast and yogurt. They are not much on breakfast... a lot of times they will grab a waffle with peanut butter or cheese on it and thats it. I have found that a LOT of times when they are excessively hungry they are really thirsty and not hungry. Try water first. I know that is usually my problem. I love cereal for bfast, dessert, umm dinner *you get the picture haha*
we are oatmeal or cornmeal mush people... Smothies are a treat. i also make yoguart. i have to say that i am interested in trying some new ideas for oatmeal from that site
hi lena beana -- i rarely can stand cereal and i don't like sweet breads (donuts, etc).
my favorite thing for breakfast = leftovers from dinner.
i'm back from vacation. howdy doody chicka. hope you and the fam are groovy, beany bear :)
Mmmm Stacy I do love those! We call them German pancakes but I think I will start calling them Dutch Babies! That's much more fun. I've never had them salty. Is that just eating them plain? We just put syrup on them but I'm thinking powdered sugar sounds really great...
Andrea- I need the muffin recipes! The scone recipe I used is the one on Mrbreakfast.com
Marcy- we haven't done breakfast burritos in a while. Thanks for the reminder! My oven is on the blink so that would be a good one for this week.
Frugalmom-Check out Mrbreakfast.com You may find some fun ideas.
Biff- Yes, whole wheat is a great filler. I need to use my grinder more often. I think my wheat is bad though because the last batch I ground was AWFUL tasting!
Heather- my girls would love oatmeal more often but Robert hates it so it's one of those few and far between things. The girls do like to make it for lunch though so they aren't deprived.
Amy- recipe please!
Beany- leftovers for breakfast! I think they'd eat it if it was pizza...
Fun ideas :) Yogurt (Dannon Vanilla Naturals are soooo good!), baked oatmeal, oatmeal packets, any types of fresh/frozen fruit, wheat waffles w/nuts, bananas & blueberries, mmmm. :)
Lena, just sprinkle salt on them and enjoy! Yum . . .
Also, would you mind sharing lifetickson's oat pancake recipe. I love oats in anything! Thanks! :)
Just read down your blog ... Nice to meet you. I don't think I have been here before (???)
I visit a LOT of blogs.
Beany likes the same breakfast as I do. While most go for cereal or eggs, I will have something in the fridge too.
I took a bite out of the muffin.
