Here's to my health!

I've been trying to create a healthier lifestyle for myself. I've lost 11 pounds in the last 6 weeks. I went shopping yesterday with some birthday money I was given and bought a few new articles of clothing. (Can I just say how much I hate to try on clothes? I love getting new clothes but all the buttoning and tugging with jeans- jeans- ugh that's a nightmare! And I don't think my hair gets messier than when I am shopping for new clothes.) I bought Mediums!!! I never thought I'd be a medium again but I guess 10 pounds was all it took! It's amazing how much different I look in clothes that fit me correctly. Feels good too. I'm not really that close to my goal weight- I have about 20 more pounds to go. Do you think I can keep up the momentum? I'm not on a diet or anything. I eat what the rest of the family eats- I just don't do the late night ice cream or crackers with cream cheese and salsa as much as I used to. I try to load up on salads before I eat the main dish so I won't want seconds. I work out with my Wii Fit almost every day for 30 minutes. That's so fun by the way!! If this is all I have to do- I should be able to keep it up. I'm lazy but even I can do that much ;) I just hope there isn't too much chocolate around after Halloween- we all have our weaknesses right? I don't know if I can say no to a Reese's PB cup.

On another note- I have the best husband in the world. I've been so cranky lately! I think it's because I just haven't had much in the way of down time or time alone. We've had sick kids in one form or another and birthday parties or other things taking up weekends. Peter is a card lover. Hallmark would love this guy. I've gotten some fun cards from him in the last week or so and I just love it and I love the that he is thinking of me enough to buy the perfect ones. I finally got my "me" time on Saturday too when I went shopping the entire morning. It was nice to have my thoughts all to myself and uninterrupted for just a little while. I so needed the rejuvenation. The next few weeks will be crazy again! I have Super Saturday and Trunk or Treat this Saturday, Halloween and Robert's baptism next weekend, and then Robert is having his birthday party the weekend after that (put it on your calendar now if your kid is a friend of Robert!) Somewhere in there I've got to clean my house, cut up a ton of chicken and peppers for this Saturday, make sure everyone has a Halloween costume, keep teaching my kids and watching a very cute baby, have them all learn their lines for the Primary Program that is also this weekend, fit some fun Halloween activities in, get the baptism planned, party planned and invites out, thank you cards from Sarah's party, get my car in because the check engine light is on and our state inspection is overdue, think of a program for the Christmas enrichment, buy all the stuff Robert will need because he is starting scouts next week, and the list goes on. It probably isn't anything new for some people but I am unusual in that I don't like to pack our time full of things! We usually try to lead a more leisurely life but I'm starting to wonder how much longer that can last. I think a lot of the busyness is just the season- it's a crazy season with birthdays and holidays. So- if I'm not posting much- you know why!

Great job, Lena! You DO sound busy so I'm glad you take time to get some down time, too. Isn't it nice to have such a wonderful husband? We're lucky, lucky girls, you know. ;)

I'm selfishly sad you're so busy because I'm so curious about your opinion on a post on our blog--we want to know what "Lena the Libertarian" (do you think the nickname fits?) thinks! :P We love your comments!!

lol Stacy!! I have to tell you I have a comment in my head about that blogpost of yours. I read it yesterday but haven't been able to make it through but a handful of the comments so far. I saw your shout out to me though. I do lean towards the Libertarian don't I? Not completely though. I don't think I fit in anywhere perfectly. Ah well. Peter and I had a lively discussion about your post yesterday. Too bad I couldn't just record it so you could join in! Maybe I'll go quickly just add a little bit of what we thought of.

LOL! Lena, I *love* hearing your thoughts because I can tell you consider them, talk with Peter, etc. You can tell! It's not just regurgitated surface responses that you've been told to think--I really get the sense that you think for yourself and that's a quality I admire so much.

We've been talking so much about that post around here that my head hurts (in a good way). It reminds me of my grad school ethics classes. I LOVE analyzing and considering these things. Our conversation has been about all the stuff in that post to the basics of living in society and having laws and order and consequences to teleological and deontological ethics. So. Much. Fun. We are such nerds . . .

I'm going to need a dictionary to figure out some of what you just said, lol! Nerds are fun!

Lena-congrats on the weight lost! That is hard work no matter how you look at it! Next time I think I'm busy I'm going to remember that you have 5 children and your plate is much fuller than mine! I'm going to miss Trunk or Treat- sad - we could have seen each other Saturday. Some other time!

Molly- my kids love the trunk or treat but I could take it or leave it. We are actually in 5th ward now so we wouldn't have been at the Mansfield building to see you if you were there! We will drive by it though to get to ours, lol.
